Browsealoud is a free program that you can download to your computer. Browsealoud reads web pages aloud for people who find it difficult to read online. Reading large amounts of text on screen can be difficult for those with literacy and visual impairments.
Our website is Browsealoud enabled so, if you've downloaded the Browsealoud program, it will read out the text on the page. Once you've downloaded this programe, any website you visit that is Browsealoud enabled will also be read out to you.
If you'd like to download Browsealoud you'll need to use the link from the Browsealoud logo on our MAB Home Page to visit the downloads section of the Texthelp site.
We have designed our site for ease of readability. All the links turn bold when you hover your mouse over them (known as mouseover).

Our website has a choice of 4 style sheets; what this means is that you can change the colour and font size from the standard style of black text and blue links on a white background to a choice of: large black text on a yellow background, large black text on a white background or large white text on a black background. Pages with sections of information have links to take you each section, with a link at the bottom page that will return you to the home page.
If you suffer poor vision there are several things you can do to make the screen easier to read.
There are several ways of doing this, dependent upon your browser:
Internet Explorer - select View | Text Size from the browser's menu bar. Also select Tools | Internet Options | Accessibility | Ignore fonts.
Firefox - select View | Text Size | Increase or Decrease Font from the browser's menu bar or press the Control key and + (the plus key) or Control and - (the minus key)
Netscape Navigator - select View | Increase or Decrease Font from the browser's menu bar or press the Control key and the [ key together.
Opera - press the + or - (minus) key on your number pad.
AOL - You can make text bigger on certain AOL screens that display content and information (for example, news headlines) as follows:
Sign on to AOL and visit AOL Keyword: Preferences.
On AOL 9.0, click Font & Text Settings.
On older versions of AOL, click Font, Text & Graphics.
Under the Text Preferences heading, select Small, Medium or Large.
This website benefits from being Browsealound enabled. Browsealoud is a computer program that reads out the words on a website. As you move the cursor over words, they are spoken aloud. Browsealoud is free for anyone to use - get Browsealoud now by using the Browsealoud link to download the program to your computer. This link is also at the top of our home page.
Once you have downloaded Browsealoud, any web page that is Browsealoud enabled will also read out to you.
If you are using JAWS, you can navigate the links on our pages faster using the Links List (rather than tabbing through the links) by using the Jaws key (insert) + F7.
If you're new to using Jaws and/or the internet, we strongly suggest you visit Freedom Scientific's own on-line web tutorial Surf's up.
