About Us

The Middlesex Association for the Blind was set up as a charity in 1922 and we aim to support people who are blind, partially sighted and deafblind, to lead independent lives. The Association achieves this through the local provision and delivery of a range of high quality services, advice and information to people across nine London boroughs: Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, and Richmond.

There are estimated to be over 40,000 people with a visual impairment living in the catchment area that we serve.

We provide a broad range of local services to support our clients, their families/carers, the statutory services and the general public.

These consist of Home Visiting Service, Midsight Hospital Information Points, Resource Centres, Telephone Helpline, Children and Carer Support Groups, Early Intervention Officers, Deaf blind Communicator Guides, Transcription Services, and Training.

The Association also represents our clients on various committees and groups to help improve and develop services across the boroughs we serve. We have been instrumental in establishing and promoting Sensory Gardens in Victoria Park, North Finchley and Harrow Recreation Ground. We also act as agents for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund, and administrators for the Meek Legacy holiday grants.
